Not sure how times goes past so quickly but it does.
Since my last post, I’ve had Bubba a few times, with the highlight being him staying with his Nanny for a whole week!
He’s such a delightful little fellow and while I always notice the little changes each week when he comes to stay, watching him over 7 days was wonderful. He is so full of character and is so happy – nothing seems to phase him. I think it’s testament to how much he is loved by his whole family, that is has such a peaceful, happy personality.
Even though I knew he liked books, I didn’t realise how much. Every day he would bring me books to read to him – not once, but a least 4 times for each book, before he’d run off and find another one to bring me. I took this video of Courtney reading him a particular favourite. It’s fabulous to watch him interact with the books. In this one there is a plate of berries on one page and a berry pie on another. He knows it is food and he would point at them and say “mmm mmm – yum yum”, a phrase he uses whenever he sees anyone eating. It’s gorgeous.
As for his lack of eating, we made some progress there too. Bubba is finally starting to show some interest in food, particularly what other people are eating. I offered him a bite of my banana sandwich and he actually took it. When he felt the banana in his mouth, initially he had a revolted look on his face but, almost immediately, this changed to “hmm, not so bad” and he ate it all.
His mum missed him heaps and came for a couple of visits. He roped her into reading to him as well. I love this pic of him engrossed in the story his mum is reading to him.

I finally took him home on Friday afternoon and, as much as I was sad to see him go, I was looking forward to a good night’s sleep. Not his fault, he slept well, but I would wake at any sound he made LOL.
He was glad to see him Mum and Dad and gave me a big hug when I left.
We saw him again only a couple of days later when Great Nanny Phyllis came up for lunch. He loved spending the afternoon wandering around the back yard while his dad helped cutting down a tree. It was such a beautiful day that we all relaxed in the sunshine.

Oh, and I may have accidentally turned the tap on so he could play in the water![]()

A whole week before I saw him again. Gosh, I missed him![]()
In that week his vocabulary grew to include the phrase “I stuck”. I think he has all the makings of a great actor. Grunting and groaning when he tried to get past something that was a bit of a squeeze and then “I stuck”. One leg up on the couch, a few grunts and groans before looking around at me and “I’m stuck”. He certainly knows how to make Nanny smile.
He’s also taken to pretending to sleep (with his eyes open). He puts his head down on the floor/pillow/grass and snorts then blows out as if he is snoring. It’s hilarious.
I went shopping the other day and bought him (and the new baby) some cute clothes. I bought some shorts for Jai that he was happy to try on over the top of his outfit (blue and white horizontal stripes *hmph* we were watching the Grand Final so I had to remove them and bring out the Collingwood hat instead) we also played a bit with the little camera and it cracks me up when he puts on his fake smile when he sees the camera.

Given that the weather is supposed to be nice for a few days, I offered to wash and sort a lot of the clothes that Jai has grown out of so that some can be used for the new baby. Not only did I collect the clothes, but Bubba Jai came for a little visit. He helped me hang the clothes out and enjoyed his time wandering around the back yard with the dogs. It was such a nice day that I decided to walk him home. Courtney had her car with his pram in the boot so he actually walked.
He only has two speeds – stop and flat out. He also hasn’t quite grasped the idea of sticking to the path and, as the path follows Taylor’s creek, guess what he was drawn to?
Marc rang just as we were leaving so I suggested he walk from his end and meet us along the way. We didn’t quite make it half way before we spotted a familiar face coming towards us. “Dadda” and a big smile from Jai, who was delighted to see his dad. I kept walking with them a bit and Jai enjoyed holding both our hands for one, two, three, weeeeeee. He’d have a couple of turns and then be off to investigate something before returning for another go. When I left them, they were nearly home and Marc had picked Jai up to carry him for awhile. After I got home, I rang Marc for something and he mentioned that when he put Jai down to walk again, he just sat on the ground and refused because he was so tired. When he got home, Marc asked if he wanted to go to bed and he said yes. Apparently, he was asleep shortly after LOL.

It would have been soooo fun to have him for a week and yes you would have been exhausted!! He’s very cute with the books!! Mitchell used to cry and scream when he got stuck anywhere so we taught him to say “I’m stuck” (I stuck) which he thankfully used. When he was 17 months we went camping in Warnambool and we came inside the tent and zipped it up and he said “I stuck, I stuck” – it totally cracked us up!! Yep baby, you sure are stuck and we aint unzipping it coz then we have to chase you all around the Caravan Park!! lol

They are so cute aren’t they? I love watching them learn to do and say things.
Jai does the same thing as Mitchell (in the tent) when he’s in his car seat. “I stuck” – sorry buddy, but you’re gonna stay stuck! LOL
Lol, sooooo cute huh!!
