April 27th

I know that this post is out of order but I forgot to post it.

Jai’s cousin, Chase turns one tomorrow. I’m working so am unable to get a shot of Chase at the exact minute he turns one year old, like I did for Jai. Instead, we did his cake smash photos today. Jai came along and boy, oh boy did we see an interesting side to his personality.

Apparently, this is HIS Nanny’s house which means that HE must always be the centre of attention LOL. He was very put out by Chase having his photo taken and Coby had a tough time trying to keep him away. We took some photos of just Jai, with the intention of calming him and then adding Chase for some family photos. NO WAY! You can see from the photos what his reaction was when he had to sit with Chase. Poor Chase just sat there calmly while being shoved and smacked by the grumpy Jai. He wasn’t real keen on the cake either. It was really very funny.

In his defence, he was tired and due for his morning nap.

Love the little mite to bits!

By the way, none of these images are edited. No crops or anything – straight from the camera. Sorry.

May 4th

This morning when Jai woke up, I was trying to think of what interesting thing we could do today. He loves it when I read to him, so I decided I would introduce him to the library. I figured a little at a time would be best as, now that he’s walking most of the time, he can be an unstoppable, destructive force if left to his own devices.

So, that’s what we did, went on his first visit to the local library.

As a bonus for Jai, there was a little girl – Jessica – there with her mum. She seemed to be an old hand at what to do and she tried so hard to teach him the rules of how to treat the books, tidy up after yourself and stay in the kids area, and while he was fascinated with her, he just wasn’t a great student, much to her disgust.

After Jessica’s tuition, he wanted to run wild so I caught him and we sat together and read a couple of books, which he loved, but then he was off again. We only stayed for 10mins. Next time, we’ll try for 11 LOL.

April 25th – ANZAC Day

Today was Marc’s birthday so, to allow Marc and Coby some time together to celebrate, I had Jai overnight. Damn those mosquitoes that chew on him through the night. I’ve got a mozzie thing to plug in for next time so they will leave him alone.

Aunty Courtney needed some help reorganising her classroom before term begins later this week, so after his bath, Jai and I were conscripted as helpers.

Jai loved the classroom and spent ages playing with toys in the colourful reading corner that Courtney has created for her students. He also tried to be helpful packing the stationery cupboard. After all the hard work, we took him to the school playground for a bit. He had a ball but boy did he screech when it was time to leave LOL.

All in all a productive day.

APRIL 24

Jai is an absolute shocker with food. Will NOT eat anything solid willingly. Loves his milk, but turns his nose up at solid food. His mum and dad have to give him Pentavite to keep his nutrients up and have made a (very sensible) decision not to give him sweets or lollies as a rule. Due to this, we didn’t buy Jai any eggs for Easter but did buy him a toy and my dear friend, Wendy, bought him some rabbits ears.

On Easter Sunday, mum came up for dinner to celebrate Easter and Marc’s birthday (which is ANZAC day – the 25th). Coby was unwell so couldn’t make it. We had a lovely dinner and Jai absolutely loved his ears – especially when his Great Nanny Phyllis was wearing them and he could snatch them off her head.

He didn’t make it to see his dad blow the candles out on his cake because he was exhausted after a big day and was tucked up in bed sound asleep.

He’s also getting much more confident with his walking and will regularly walk more than 10 steps before he drops to, the quicker mode, crawling.

Spotty

We were lucky enough to have Jai for the whole weekend this week. I’ve not long dropped him off at home and I already miss him.

He’d just woken up when we picked him up on Saturday and he was in fine, fun form. I’d come off night shift so was exhausted but Courtney had offered to look after him when Marc asked so she ran around after him. However, for some reason, I got to have him in my room overnight. The beautiful boy slept all night without stirring but when he woke in the morning…oh dear!

Seems a mosquito had been on the loose in my bedroom and, as they detest me, had snacked on Jai over and over again. He had spots all over his one exposed hand and head. The bites didn’t seem to annoy him but the rosy red cheeks and pulling of the ears indicated another tooth may be putting in an appearance. While this may have affected his mood and made him a bit more sooky and in need of cuddles than normal, he was still lovely to have around.

On Sunday night, after a big day, he was pretty keen for his bath (as you can see from the pics below). I’m not quite sure why he was happy to have all his clothes removed but wanted his socks on. Don’t worry, we put him in the bath sans socks.

Courtney was lying on the couch when I returned from dropping him off. She was exhausted after a weekend full of Bubba Jai LOL.

Looking forward to his next visit. Hopefully, it will be too cold for mozzies then.

What a cuty-kins!! Lol re the socks!

This might seem like a strange request… but is your bathroom bench a “banjo” one and if so would you be able to send some photos of your bathroom showing the banjo bench, how it goes over the top of the bath etc? We are looking at redoing our bathroom and this is the latest idea that has been given suggested to us. Do the adults use the bath and if so do you have any probs with the bench like that affecting your bath at all etc? Sorry to be such a sticky nose lol …

Thanks Pam :-)

I don’t actually know what a ‘banjo’ bench is but, yes, it thins out from the vanity part and then goes over the end of the bath. Adults do use the bath but the sloping end of the bath (where your back would rest) is at the end away from the bench so we’ve never had any problems. Will try and get a photo soon for you.
